Nicole Gervasio is a first-generation college student from Trenton, NJ who received her B.A. in English and Growth & Structure of Cities at Bryn Mawr College in 2010. She is now a Ph.D. candidate in English and Comparative Literature at Columbia, where her research interests include human rights, collective trauma, women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, and histories of violence in twentieth- and twenty-first-century postcolonial literature. Her work has been supported by the Jacob K. Javits Foundation, the Beinecke Memorial Fund, the New York Council for the Humanities, the Heyman Center for the Humanities, the Marjorie Hope Nicolson Scholarship, the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship, and Columbia’s Institute for Research on Women, Gender, and Sexuality.
