Omar Farahat is a doctoral candidate at Columbia University’s Department of Middle Eastern South Asian and African Studies in the areas of Islamic theology, jurisprudence and ethics. His current research focuses the semantic and normative implications of divine speech in 10th-11th century Islamic works of theology and legal theories.
