Unfortunately, the Mellon Interdisciplinary Fellows Program is ending at the end of Spring 2017. We regret to announce that we will not be accepting another cohort.
Advanced doctoral students matriculating at Columbia University who are within two (2) years of completing their dissertations are eligible to apply. Space is limited and the program is highly competitive. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on April 15th. If that date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the deadline is 5 p.m. the previous Friday.
Application materials include:
- Cover Letter
Describe yourself and address how you would benefit from and contribute to an interdisciplinary setting. The maximum length for cover letter is one (1) single-spaced page.
- Current Curriculum Vitae
Please make sure your cv contains your current mailing address.
- Dissertation Description
The dissertation description should be no more than three (3) single-spaced pages with font size 11 or 12 points and margins at least 1 inch. A page of references does not count towards this page limit.
- Biographical Sketch and Abstract
A two- to three-sentence biographical sketch and a 200-word abstract of your dissertation suitable for public reports and for INCITE's publicity materials.
- Letter of Reference
Have your adviser or faculty who best knows your dissertation and your research wite a letter of reference.
Submit six (6) copies of all application materials to the main offices (3078 Broadway, at the southeast corner of 122nd Street and Broadway) and an electronic version to email@example.com. Hardcopies should be collated and clipped (not stapled) in the order listed above. A single copy of the reference information is sufficient and may be submitted by your adviser in hard or electronic forms.
