About

Radhika Gore is a PhD candidate in sociomedical sciences at Columbia University. Her research interests lie in the intersections of the state, society, and market transitions in health care. Her dissertation research involves 12 months of ethnographic and historical fieldwork in Pune, India. It investigates how an avid and largely unregulated private health care sector is shaping not just the cost, access, and quality of medical services, but also the meanings and material capacities attached to the state’s changing role in the urban health system. She has worked extensively with international development agencies, where she conducted analysis on decentralization and the dilemmas of local public service delivery.
