Art and Black Power is the culminating event of the Center for the Study of Social Difference's series Countering the Carceral State. Rooted in Malcolm X’s political awakening related to the deep study that he undertook while he was in prison, the series has explored the crises of disciplinary enforcement central to American power at home and abroad.
