Kathryn Hill is a PhD candidate in the Sociology and Education Program at Teachers College, Columbia University. Grounded in political sociology, her research focuses on the intersection of race, class and political and cultural orientations toward schooling. Her dissertation project explores the trust—both interpersonal and institutional—that African-American parents place in public schools.
