Lucy Sheehan is completing a Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, where she specializes in nineteenth-century British literature. Her current research asks how memories of slavery survived in Victorian culture, and in the Victorian novel in particular; her other research interests include political theory, law, and social thought in the novel, and the history of embodiment, gender, and sexuality in the nineteenth century. A 2015-2016 Columbia University Core Curriculum preceptor teaching Contemporary Civilization, she graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. from Amherst College in 2008.
