Maria Sabater Nuñez is the Assistant Director of the Social Study of Disappearance Lab (SSDL) in the Department of Anthropology at Columbia University.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from the University of Chicago and a Masters in International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. Her background is in human rights policy and international conflict resolution with a particular focus on sustainable peace and digital research. She joined SSDL in September 2024.
