Drawing on his extensive experience of writing and reporting on climate and environmental sustainability, Andrew Revkin reflects on the role of media and the scientific community in the current moment, and the challenges and opportunities of sustaining a public dialogue on climate change and related issues. Introduction and moderation by Dr. Peter DeMenocal, Dean of Science in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and founding director of the Columbia University Center for Climate and Life


Andrew Revkin is one of America’s most honored and experienced writers on environmental sustainability and a leading innovator in using new communication tools to foster progress on a finite, noisy, fast-forward planet. Since late 2016, he has been the senior reporter for climate and related issues at ProPublica.org. He joined the prize-winning public-interest newsroom after 21 years of writing for The New York Times, most recently through his Dot Earth blog for the Opinion section, and six years teaching at Pace University. Revkin has won most of the top awards in science journalism, along with a Guggenheim Fellowship, Columbia University’s John Chancellor Award for sustained journalistic excellence and an Investigative Reporters & Editors Award.


This event is part of the INCITEment series hosted by the Interdisciplinary Center for Innovative Theory and Empirics (INCITE), and is co-hosted by the Columbia University Earth Institute.
